Our Mission

The Foundation of Minority Aviators is a charity and network committed to increasing the number of minority aviators through exposure to the aviation industry. This will be done through education about the various opportunities, mentoring within its professional network, and through financial sponsorship giving them the tools to succeed. We have a goal to add 100,000 new minority pilots to the airline industry over the next five to ten years.

    FAQ

    What is FOMA?

    – FOMA stands for “Foundation of Minority Aviators” and is a charity and network committed to increasing the
number of minority aviators through exposure to the aviation industry. This will be done through education about the various opportunities, mentoring within its professional network, and through financial sponsorship giving them the tools to succeed.

How do you make sure my gifts to FOMA are spent wisely?

    – We have strong structures of monitoring and evaluation to ensure the resources are well accounted for. The key is to get out into the community and schools and raise the awareness that anyone can become an airline pilot with the right training and more importantly that we will give those grants for the pilot training. Through our collective contact in the media, who are always looking for a story, and social media we will promote the foundation’s goals to get more minorities involved in aviation.

How do you know which individuals need help?

    – Interested applicants can fill out our scholarships form and we will review their applications using our defined criteria. Suitable candidates will be interviewed and a shortlist of viable candidates is presented for review. The scholarships will then be awarded based on need.

    Is my donation tax-deductible?

    – If you’re in the United Kingdom, yes it is. Through Gift Aid, your donation can be increased by 25%, helping us to further our mission at no extra cost to you if you’re a UK taxpayer.

Where does my money actually go?

    – We aim to use the resources to improve access for minorities by sharing knowledge through education, training, coaching, inspiring, networking, and scholarships. We are building an international network of suitably qualified individuals that can provide a reliable support network for those individuals interested in pursuing a career within the aviation industry.

What percentage of my donation goes towards programs?

    – The Enlightenment also saw growing philosophical debate between those who championed state intervention and those who believed that private charities should provide welfare. The Reverend Thomas Malthus.

    What’s your goal?

    – The key is to get out into the community and schools and raise the awareness that anyone can become an airline pilot with the right training and more importantly that we will give those grants for the pilot training. I already have a number of pilots who are ready and willing and able to go into schools, community centers, and churches to help raise awareness of our program. Through our collective contact in the media, who are always looking for a story, and social media we will promote the foundation’s goals to get more minorities involved in aviation.
