FOMA stands for Foundation of Minority Aviators and was officially conceived on 18 June 2020. We are a charity focused on the advancement of pilots from a black and minority ethnic backgrounds.
By sharing knowledge through education, training and coaching, we are building an international network of qualified individuals that can provide suitably a reliable support network for those individuals interested in pursuing a career within the aviation industry.

By offering scholarships and bursaries through partnerships with various organizations that support individuals pursuing careers in aviation, including pilot training scholarships and engineering scholarships.
The Foundation of Minority Aviators is a charity and network committed to increasing the number of minority aviators through exposure to the aviation industry. This will be done through education about the various opportunities, mentoring within its professional network, and through financial sponsorship giving them the tools to succeed.

During the worldwide pandemic in 2020, five airline pilots from a black and minority ethnic backgrounds began having separate conversations about the aviation industry and their experiences. One of the most frequent subjects discussed was about the lack of representation of people of colour across the industry.
After sharing their thoughts, they decided that with their combined knowledge and experience this was the perfect time to make a difference by tackling the structural and systemic barriers that might deter future
generations of similar background from pursuing a career in this great industry. Thus the Foundation of Minority Aviators was created as a charity and network committed to increasing the number of minority aviators through exposure to the aviation industry.
